The National Pilot Association (NPA) is the national union representing flight instructors and pilots.
In 2016, the NPA passed a resolution calling for an end to the forced training of pilots and flight instructors in Australia as a result of the Commonwealth Government’s decision to withdraw funding from the Australian Pilots Association (APA).
“There is now widespread recognition that the Government’s financial contribution to the APA has been cut, leaving the union without the support it needs to carry out our membership-building and training programmes,” the NPAA’s chair, Matthew Thomas, said in a statement.
“It is disappointing that the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade have refused to provide any financial support to the NPs as a consequence of the withdrawal of funding.”
The NPA has launched an online tool to help members locate and apply for positions at flight schools.
